Over-pronoucing "When I'm on stage by myself, I don't have to think about anything. I don't have to worry about anything because I'm not responsible for anything except just opening my mouth and making sure music comes out."
-Bobby McFerrin
Interesting fact When it come to eating and singing it is highly recommened to eat lightly and in at least one hour before performing. Since one doesnt want to sing with a "gunky" throat full of food.
Personal note:
What i missed from last class--> Fabiana and Iman we're singing to each other and gave each other feed back about what they can improve on(ie. voice technique, volume and standing postion)
So today we have started on our movements that goes with the second song that we are working on Jordan sparks "Tattoo". Not just that but we also have started off by what I have missed last class and to refresh our mermory of how the song goes then we started the movements. We notice how we had to keep in mind that we did not have to create a movement for every word or every part of the lyric.
Jordan sparks- Tattoo
Oh, oh, oh
No matter what you say about love I keep coming back for more Keep my hand in the fire (We meet by touching hands) Sooner or later, I'll get what I'm asking for (we touch shoulders)
No matter what you say about life I learn every time I bleed That truth is a stranger Soul is in danger, I gotta let my spirit be free
To admit that I'm wrong And then change my mind Sorry but I have to move on And leave you behind
[Chorus] I can't waste time so give it a moment I realize, nothing's broken (Fabi's line) Live every second like it was my last one ( MY line) Don't look back at a new direction (Turn around wak in opposite directions) I loved you once, needed protection (hug self) You're still a part of everything I do You're on my heart just like a tattoo ( meet hand's tatto show)
(Just like a tattoo, I'll always have you I'll always have you, I'll always have you)
I'm sick of playing all of these games It's not about taking sides When I looked in the mirror, didn't deliver It hurt enough to think that I could
Stop, admit that I'm wrong And then change my mind Sorry but I gotta be strong And leave you behind
[Chorus]
(Just like a tattoo, I'll always have you I'll always have you)
[Bridge] If I live every moment Won't change any moment Still a part of me and you I will never regret you Still the memory of you Marks everything i do
[Chorus X2]
Just like a tattoo I'll always have you
http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/jordinsparks/tattoo.html Personal explaination and conclusion What I see as a performer, dancing and movement can goe either way. Including movement can either help the person let go because they they are not reaIly focusing on the audience as they would standing still so the performers' main attention will go the movements and not the people watching OR it can make the person even more nervous because one may feel overwhelmed that they have the remember the moves and the lyric at the same time, and they may not feel confident if they, themselves feel that they are not a good dancer but even at that one should try.
Where does pleasure fit in?
The pleasure fits into the performance as a whole because without actually enjoying it then the performerw ill not sing in their greatest potential and the audience might not be as interested because the performer(s) is not that interested or enjoying what they are doing. Just feeling that you are just reflaxing into your confort space and not pay mind to the audience can give a strong performance.
http://www.ausgirlschoir.com.au/images/Performing%20Arts%20HP2.jpg The more you enjoy it the more likely one will let go. Giving in more voice projection, and enagementand it tends to show both on the performers' face and it will increase the interest of the audience.
The joy of performing increase the freedom in your movement and your vocals. You tend to increase the voice range when your relaxed than when you are nervous or not enjoying what your doing.
